Today, May 7th, 2020, Disney officially announced via Disney Parks Blog that Disney Springs will begin a phased opening on Wednesday, May 20th.

This announcement has been highly anticipated amongst millions of Disney fans worldwide, as this is the first step in the process of reopening Walt Disney World.

The first phase of the reopening of Disney Springs will consist of opening a limited number of third-party shopping and dining locations.

A few of the changes being made to allow this phase to begin safely include:

  • Increasing cleaning procedures
  • Required use of face masks or other appropriate coverings by all Cast Members, as well as guests
  • Limited-contact guest services
  • Additional training for Cast Members with a special focus on safety

More changes to existing procedures and safety requirements may be announced at a later date, as Disney continues to closely monitor current conditions and carefully considers the health and safety of its guests and Cast Members.

All WDW parks and resorts will remain closed during this first phase of reopening.
