Yesterday, November 12th, was the long-awaited and much-anticipated launch date for Disney+. Millions of Disney fans around the world have been counting down the days. In fact, over 10 million people subscribed to the new streaming service by the end of its first day.
The launch did not go off without its fair share of glitches, confusion, and frustration for some subscribers. Several people experienced issues connecting to the service, while others encountered activation complications.
Verizon Wireless customers with qualifying plans are eligible to receive one free year of Disney+, which caught many people by surprise.
We both subscribed to the service, but with different packages. Danny is a Verizon customer and gets to enjoy a free year of Disney+, which will cost $6.99 per month following the free year of streaming. Halie chose the bundle, which includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for $12.99 per month.
Overall, we both share the same opinion of Disney+. We LOVE it!! Neither of us have had any technical issues whatsoever. We have both been able to stream shows without experiencing any of the glitches that others have experienced.
Since everyone on social media has been asking what others chose for the first show to watch on Disney+, Halie chose “Xenon: Girl of the 21st Century” and Danny choose “Steamboat Willie”.
Halie is absolutely loving the bundle. The feature that allows users to search for shows by decade is her favorite. It’s an awesome feature that makes searching for shows much simpler. This feature adds to the nostalgia aspect of Disney+, because you can more easily search for shows you enjoyed during your childhood.
Halie fondly recalls wonderful memories of her childhood. On Friday nights, she and her brother, Corey, used to make their mom and dad have them home by 8:00 PM to watch the Disney featured films. They would watch every Friday night.
Although he was typically not home on Friday nights, Danny always had his mom set the VCR to record episodes of “Boy Meets World” every week so he could watch them when he got home.
For both of us, having these shows available for us to watch again in one place brings back some truly great childhood memories.
Halie has watched more shows than Danny so far, but we both absolutely loved watching “The Imagineering Story”. It is easily our favorite. It is such an incredibly well done documentary. It is very informative and full of fantastic interviews with the people who were there alongside Walt Disney creating the magic of Disney that we have all come to know and love.
So far, the only complaint we have is that there is no option to resume watching where you left off without searching for the show again, unless it is featured. To continue watching later, you have to search for the show again to resume watching. The lack of this option seems like a bit of an obvious oversight.
The variety and overall number of shows available on the service provides something for everyone. Considering everything that is available to watch, the price charged to stream each month is absolutely fantastic!!
Overall, we couldn’t possibly be much happier with our experiences with Disney+ so far. This streaming service has been well worth the wait, and we feel that Disney hit a home run with Disney+.
